Bucket List 2016

Looking back and at other blogs for suggestions, my last bucket list was pretty standard! I realize I just looked online for a bunch of DCP ones and just tailored it to make my own, but I’m 100% satisfied with what I accomplished and I’m so glad I did the experiences I did in 2014! But this time, I’m approaching it just a bit different! I want to experience Florida in general, as opposed to a very strict Disney list (I didn’t have a car last program so I was pretty limited anyway) and I also want to do things that I normally wouldn’t try when on a Disney vacation, per se! And lastly, I would love to stick to “cheap thrills” instead of just spending all the money I make in one paycheck (last time I did a bunch of “not-so-cheap- thrills” and I’m so glad I got to experience them at least once!) so without further ado, my 2016 Bucket List!

  1. Get my face painted! Alright, I realize this first one costs money right off the bat (and sadly, no discount!) but it’s fun and I always wanted to do it at least once!
  2. Buy a Universal annual pass! Again, more money! But it’s sooo worth it if you even go twice! Which I plan on doing way more than just twice! I just need Harry Potter World and Universal in general in my life!
  3. More backstage magic!!!✨ This is usually a random chance of events! There is usually a monthly drawing that you can win! Or go to cast appreciation events and win! Or go to behind the scenes tours with your work groups!! But mostly random, so just have to take every chance I can to get it!
  4. VoluntEAR! This was on my bucket list last time, and I didn’t really take the opportunity to do much with it! So this time I’d like to do it at least once!
  5. Mickey’s Retreat! Private cast member recreational area! It’s right across from Chatham and I have never been once!🌴🚣🏼⚽️
  6. Hunt for Hidden Mickeys! It seems like I was too distracted by the park rides and offerings that I completely missed a bunch of mickeys! I have a feeling I can get Marissa onboard with this one!
  7. Magic Kingdom Welcome Show in the morning!
  8. Eat around the world and drink around the world! I tried so many new restaurants on my program and found one of my favorites to be The Spice Table in Morocco! I would have never known I liked Moroccan food if I hadn’t tried a new place.🌶🍚🍥
  9. Go to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge at night and see animals with the night-vision goggles.🦁🐒🐗🐍
  10. Resort hop! To every single Disney resort! I’m sure Marissa will be down for this one too!!
  11. Grocery Bingo! HELLO!!!! Free groceries AND bingo!? How did I never go to one of these events? Oh yeah, I was almost always working during these! Must make a point to go to at least one or two!
  12. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!🎃 100% worth every penny! You get to see lots of rare characters and you get to dress up too! I already have an Incredible idea for this years Not So Scary event!
  13. Ride a ride twice in a row! (As in, not getting off for it)
  14. Rain day! ⛈☔️This one might take a little rain gear, but everyone knows the parks clear out when it rains, and as long as there isn’t lightning in the area, the attractions/shops usually stay open! I want to spend the day and not care about the wet clothes (poncho is a must!)
  15. Pixie Dusted! Such a simple, fun way to add sparkle to the day!✨
  16. Make a wish in the Wishing Well
  17. Sit in the front row (aka the hIgHeSt) row in Soarin’!!
  18. Ice Cream at Ghirardelli!🍦
  19. Bowling at Splitsville🎳
  20. Leis from the Polynesian resort🌺
  21. Campfire, Smores, and Archery at Fort Wilderness🔥🍫🏹
  22. Spa Day!? Might be a little out of my budget💆🏼
  23. Jellyrolls with friends or coworkers🎹
  24. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach days!🌊💦
  25. Hoop-de-doo review
  26. Earl of Sandwhich
  27. Sci-fi diner!
  28. Finish my autograph book with new signitures (no duplicates)
  29. Disney Movie Marathon🎬🎞
  30. Attend CP Graduation and Formal
  31. Pressed Pennies!?

  50. Continue blogging as much as my hands and time allows! 💻

Another Side of Disney Side

This is a bit extensive but I did this exact same survey 2 years ago! This is just the 2016 remix version.

1. Favorite Disney movie?

This will forever be Beauty and the Beast! It’s a great love movie! And I love love.

2. Walt Disney World or Disneyland?
I love Disney. I truly loved the experience Walt Disney World gave me when I worked there! But I hold truly magical memories from Disneyland too (and hope to make more next January when I visit with some of my DCP roomies). But they both have their redeeming qualities that the other will never have. I like them both. The end.

3. Favorite Disney character? My favorite Disney character is Marie. Because I am a lady. But I also love Gus Gus!

4. The first Disney movie you remember seeing in the theatres? I honestly remember seeing Mulan in theaters with my best friend Lauren! We were 6! We went to McDonalds and got the toys too. It was the Dragon, Mushu!

5. What type of Disney item do you collect the most? (Pins, Vinylmation, dolls, etc.)

After my college program I came home with three lanyards (literally) full of pins. You could say I have a pin collecting problem. I also came home with a ton of telecasts thinking I didn’t save any of them through my program. I probably have 100 of those things.

6. Your favorite Disney song?

I love the Lion King Soundtrack! My favorite is probably “He Lives in You” from the second movie, I think! After my program, I have a soft spot for illumination music & pre-music; and also “One Little Spark” from Journey into Imagination with Figment.

7. Favorite attraction/ride at the parks? This is a tough one. So I will pick one from each “land” in Magic Kingdom and the 3 other parks 😉

Adventureland: Pirates of the Caribbean!

Frontierland: Splash Mountain

Fantasyland: it’s a small world & PhilharMagic

New Fantasyland: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Liberty Square: HAUNTED MANSION

Storybook Circus: Dumbo? I guess..

Tomorrowland: Buzz Lightyear & People Mover

Epcot: Test Track

Hollywood Studios: Tower of Terror

Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Everest & Kilimanjaro

8. What is your dream job at Disney? After being accepted into the College Program, I have definitely realized there is a con to every pro working at Disney. I will say the obvious, I would LOVE to be a Disney Princess, but then you must deal with the difficulties of your duty. 😉 I have recently fell in love with the idea of working for attractions and maybe, hopefully Haunted Mansion!

9. Who’s the park character you never want to miss meeting at the parks? Hmm, I am not a meet & greet person, I am more of a rides person. But I love the princesses, so how about them!

10. What’s your most treasured Disney item?

I have a Minnie Mouse dress from the Cruises 🙂 but I also consider my DCP memories a treasured Disney item, which is immaterial.

11. Which Disney voice actor would you most like to meet? Mufasa from the Lion King (James Earl Jones) & Timon from the Lion King (Nathan Lane) because they are both LEGENDS. Also, Yzma from The Emperors New Groove!! (Eartha Kitt) loved her!

12. Favorite Disney movie that’s not a classic/famous? (ex. Black Cauldron) Does Emperors New Groove count?? The Ultimate Christmas Present (Disney Channel Movie). I’ll Be Home for Christmas. The Santa Clause! Ah love their Christmas movies, so magical!

“These are a gift…probably from the cable company. We’re getting the Disney Channel now. Merry Christmas.”

13. If you could say anything to Walt Disney right now, what would it be? I would say thank you.

14. Your favorite snack to get at the parks? (Churros, Mickey’s Ice Cream Bars, etc.) Oh snap, I like the pretzels just because they are Mickey shaped, although they taste like a regular pretzel (and priced like a solid gold pretzel)! But my go-to snack is the strawberry fruit bars. They are on the cheaper side & delish!

15. Your favorite parade/show at the parks? I love the live stage shows! Beauty and the Beast is my favorite in Hollywood Studios! And does Philharmagic count?

16. Flounder, Sebastian, or Scuttle? Oh man. Scuttle

.

17. Your favorite Disney memory? Just being able to visit the parks with my grandparents countless times before they passed. My grandma went on every ride she could & LOVED to people watch. My grandpa was such a trooper and tried to go on the rides we liked also! I wish I had digital copies of my grandparents both at the park. Oh and the one time my grandpa accidentally dropped my grandma out of her wheel chair!!!

18. Do you have a favorite pair of Mickey ears? I like the headband ones! I have a christmas version from my program.

19. If you could, what “forgotten princess” would you add to the official lineup? Kusco! Just Kidding 😉 Charlotte La Bouff!

20. Your favorite princess dress/outfit? Merida & Pocahontas! Both the “most practical” But I have to say I love the Norwegian touch of Anna and Elsa.

21. Your favorite Disney soundtrack? The Lion King. but Frozen has grown on me. (Bleh I know.)

22. Genie, Abu, Carpet, Iago, or Rajah? Genie! I love Robin Williams!

23. Favorite restaurant at the parks? Hmmmmmm..tough one! I loved Be Our Guest! Holy moly that atmosphere is a dream come true for me. Eat in the West Wing if you can. It’s so immersive and it was quiet even though it was full.

24. How did you first discover the “magic” of Disney? My parents & grandparents loved Disney before I was even born! So I was raised into it!!

25. What attraction are you most likely to go to first when you’re at the parks? We have a system that is FOOLPROOF! My mother takes care of all the planning & we make it to everything we could ever wish to go on (sometimes more than twice!) and we go between Christmas and new year…aka the time NOT to go because it is way too crowded. We manage.

26. Your favorite “iconic” moment? (ex. Ariel on the rock, Aladdin finding the lamp, Rafiki lifting Simba, etc.) Not sure. I guess when the beast figures out he loves Belle? And when the dancing forks & plates come out 😉

27. What’s the saddest moment for you in any Disney film? Dumbo & his mama. I will never watch that movie again for this reason.

28. Best Disney kiss?

29. If you could live in any world from a Disney movie, which would you choose?

I think Toy Story! So many fun characters! Most of the princess movies have a villain that terrified me growing up, so I am not going to pick one of those!

30. Favorite Disney musical sequence based on spectacle/animation?

I’m not sure what this means. I guess like Broadway? The Lion King.

31. Which Disney character has the best sidekicks?

Mike Wazowski! Or Ham & Rex! Or Timon & Pumba! Ahhh to many!

32. If you could have a party themed around any Disney movie, which one would you pick? Finding Nemo or Up 🙂 just because I love pixar movie themes!

33. Are you the only one obsessed with Disney in your family? Or does it run in the family? Runs in the family. I am the least obsessed. And that is saying something!

34. Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Cogsworth, or Chip? Lumiere & Cogsworth…not the same without both!

35. What are your top five favorite Disney blogs?

  1. shelbyshedrow.wordpress.com (my blog from my DCP), is this one allowed?
  2. hannahsdcp.blogspot.com
  3. https://tadasherz.wordpress.com/
  4. https://alittletrustandpixiedust.wordpress.com/
  5. https://racheldoesdisney.wordpress.com/
  6. https://alyssaworksforthemouse.wordpress.com/

36. If you could choose the plot/adaptation for the next Disney movie, what would it be? My life. Duh. I AM a Princess! Just Kidding 🙂 let’s see..penguins. Lots of penguins.

37. Favorite hotel at the parks?

Animal Kingdom Lodge!! For sure! This is the place to stay if you are going to be in your hotel room a lot. Don’t spend the money if you are just going to sleep there for 7 hours and leave. It is a place to enjoy and relax.

Also, Cinderella’s Castle Suite counts too right?

38. Which Disney movie do you turn to when you’re sad/upset?

Finding Nemo and Beauty and the Beast!

39. The Aladdin show or The Little Mermaid show?

This is a bad question because I think it means the stage show at the parks. I’ve only seen The Little Mermaid show, so lets go with that.

40. Do you plan to have/have you had your honeymoon at a Disney park?

Someday I will.

41. Favorite piece of Disney clothing/accessory to wear?

I absolutely love my Alex and Ani’s. They each show a piece of my Disney story.

42. Post a picture of yourself that’s Disney-related.

20140415-153730.jpg

43. Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck? Donald! He’s funny when he’s grumpy! But Mickey Mouse is my former boss…

44. What Disney movies/worlds would you like to see in the next Kingdom Hearts game? I have never played this game.

45. Which Disney movie, even if it’s not your favorite, will always have a special place in your heart and for what reason? Snow White. My grandma always told us that she went to see the movie when it was in theaters!!! Not many people could say that!

Major Update

So, keeping up with a blog is a lot harder than I had previously anticipated. But never fear. Here is a good, long one to keep those updated! I had to refer back to my last post and I did an internal sigh when I realized just how long it has been. The last time we met virtually, I had gone to Animal Kingdom with my roommates. A ton has happened since then, but let’s go over some highlights and some of my favorite moments of DCP.

Haunted Mansion Tour:
This was absolutely fabulous and worth waking up at 5am to do it. If you get the chance, whether it’s the cast member tour or not, DO THIS! It takes you completely through the ride (walking) with the lights on with 2 tour guides who tell you all the hidden secrets about just how this ride works and a ton of things you’d never realize that go into detail! Just a fun thing, see if you can spot the Grand Floridian Victoria & Albert’s dishes used in the attic scene! The tour guides also mentioned that only one non-cast member has taken this tour. Neil Patrick Harris. Apparently, it was part of his contract in the Candle Light Processional that he would like the tour of Haunted Mansion and he was granted that wish. Disney is Magical for all guests! 🙂

Katy Perry:
Speaking of magic, Katy Perry was visiting Disney World the other week (4th of July) and she was in Epcot the day I happened to be working and just floated right by me into my fluff of bubbles. She was lovely and sweet and it made my week so magical to be able to interact with her!

Park Time:
I have been spending a few solo days/nights at the park just as much as spending days with my roommates in the parks! For Heather’s birthday (July 7) she wanted to go to Epcot! And because Gabby, Chelsea, and I also had the day off, we explored World Showcase to the max and ended the night on Test Track! I really enjoyed exploring World Showcase for 2 reasons. A) I work in America so I am literally spending months and months in this place and need to get familiar with my surroundings in order to help others in more efficient ways. B) I feel like I want to explore the world and this little taste of everything made me really intent on 1 or 2 more places added to my list. For example, Morocco. Probably my favorite (by far) of countries in World Showcase! This is a fabulous little taste of what I’m sure a whole country is like! Chelsea and I also went to Magic Kingdom one night just to hang out more and we got to do all of our favorite rides!
I then did a solo Hollywood Studios day, which I truly believe is a park you should do solo because there is too much differences in tastes here. Some people love the stage shows and some people love the rides and some people love both. I think I like a fair mix of both but there are some rides where I have little interest in doing again (or once). Therefor, I enjoy my own time here doing what I like.

Family:
Amanda and Scott welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Violette Anita, into the world on June 30 at 2 am! She is gorgeous and I have already FaceTimed her and I usually get a good morning picture from them (of her) daily! It makes me feel like I am not missing too much and will be home to meet her soon! I sent her a care package of all these lovely things including name engraved baby Mouse Ears! Pictures soon followed and she is just too stinkin’ cute in them! Good thing she has a few years to grow into them! I also got to talk to my mom yesterday on the phone for just a bit, which was lovely. I just wish I could get Jared to talk on the phone 😉

Wizarding World of Harry Potter:
Now I have been to Universal one time before (that I can really remember) which was Christmas the year the first world of Harry Potter opened. And let me tell you, it was fabulous this time around. It was indeed crowded (the wait for Gringotts at FIVE HOURS), but it was everything a fan could love. It was a truly immersive experience and I fully plan to spend a whole day there in September or August once school is back in and it dies down a bit. If you are a huge Harry Potter fan like me, this is a MUST! I even got a wand from Ollivanders which made the whole trip perfect! Unfortunately, I got incredibly sick after eating lunch and had to call it a day before riding Gringotts. But I did get to do everything else I wanted and I love just looking around there! However, be aware that this week annual passes with no block out dates started at $244 and just yesterday skyrocketed to $314. Same ticket, same features, crapton more money. Just be aware of that. I, unfortunately, did not buy my pass before this jump and was forced to buy a one day park to park pass. Which is required if you want to do BOTH Harry Potter experiences. You can bet Universal is milking this for all it is worth.
Check out my facebook album of Harry Potter

Roommate:

I love all of my roommates. It is seriously so crazy to me that as random as many of them were I love them all to death. I feel more relatable to some more than others just because our personalities are very much alike, but I could not have gotten so lucky with any other girls! We are one big family already and we love having late night talks and family dinners together when our schedules allow it! Chelsea and I even recruited 2 more Khaleesi fans (Game of Thrones) and they are both addicted like us! Whenever one of those parks opens, you can count us in! I really get along with my live-in roommate Heather. And I think our personalities mesh flawlessly to be able to get along in the same room. (at least she hasn’t said anything differently, yet) 😉

Work:
I saved this one for last because work is work. And yes, I am working in the happiest place on earth but that does not change the crazy hours or hard working aspect of it. However, I like my job and feel the benefits outweigh the negatives and would not give it up. I enjoy many of my co-workers and hope to build more friendships as time goes on! And speaking of work, I have been fretting nervously this past week after seeing my schedule for this week! I have been deployed to the Emporium on Main Street in Magic Kingdom. Which is the busiest shop ever. And one of the largest (World of Disney beats it in Downtown Disney though). But I am taking it in with an open mind and will just have to arrive SUPER early in order to figure out costuming and such. :/

If you haven’t checked out my album on facebook for the DCP, that is what I have been updating religiously: check it out here!

My Disney Side

This is a bit extensive but just a little bit more about me & what I love about Disney!

1. Favorite Disney movie?

Beauty & the Beast! It’s a lovely movie with funny & a good love story! I could watch it everyday. Also Emperors New Groove!!

2. Walt Disney World or Disneyland? I have been to both, so I can honestly say Walt Disney World. So many people disagree, but Walt Disney World has so much more to it. It’s a week long vacation instead of a two day vaca (just my opinion!) I will say they are both magical & I would visit either, given the chance!
