What’s Next?

So what is next for this DCP Alumni? Simple. Go back to school and finish my degree (3 more classes!!!!!) But in the meantime, I have tossed around the idea of starting a new blog. This one will probably not be the same material, but perhaps something more personal. As the new school year approaches, I am reminded of financial responsibilities (aren’t we all?) and have tried to save for something new. I have had the same laptop for over 5 years now and cannot get much use out of it now (it has a nasty virus and only works plugged in.) The charger and batter does not work as it used to (bright green tape keeps it together, though!) And my trackpad no longer works, so a borrowed external mouse has been helping me along. It has been a nice little guy but it is time for a new one and sadly, the funds are not there. At all.

In addition to saving for a new laptop and school, I plan to continue reading, writing, and loving Disney!

2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,200 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 20 trips to carry that many people.

See Ya Real Soon..

These last few months, I have been putting off thinking about the end of my program. But as it is the end and I am home and starting classes again tomorrow, I guess it is time to face the reality that my College Program is indeed over. Exactly a week ago I was turning in my last costumes and a few days before that I was finishing my last shift at America. If I could say one thing from everything, it is this: it’s hard work. But the people you work with make it all worth it.

If you read any blog post about a CP’s time at Disney, 99% of the people will say their job was not ideal. But what makes people keep coming back to work? The coworkers. It is obvious that no matter where you go, a job is a job, but as magical as it is for guests to interact with these Cast Members, it’s just as magical backstage for us when we get to work with these Cast Members!!

But you didn’t come here to read about the woes of being in Merchandise, (it’s honestly one of the better jobs!!)you came here to read about my last few months as a Cast Member. So without further ado:

I spent almost every waking moment trying to squeeze in everything that Disney has to offer its guests and Cast Members! This included (but is not limited to): free park admission, 40% off merchandise!, Cirque du Soliel, Blue Man Group (oops, that’s Universal), Harry Potter World (Universal also), DisneyQuest, Chef Mickeys, O’hana, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Dole Whip!, Disney’s Photopass, decorating christmas cookies, Canoeing with Katie and my family, and so much more that the memories can never be replaced! I spent the last 7 months making life long friends that I cannot even begin to explain.

Katie and Marissa (both of whom I worked with) made going to work and also going to the parks that much more enjoyable and I find myself still having inside jokes (that will most definitely never get old) through snapchat. There will never be anything to replace the time I have spent at Disney World with all of my amazing coworkers and lifelong friends. Here’s to seeing each other real soon!

“Around here, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
– Walt Disney
