These last few months, I have been putting off thinking about the end of my program. But as it is the end and I am home and starting classes again tomorrow, I guess it is time to face the reality that my College Program is indeed over. Exactly a week ago I was turning in my last costumes and a few days before that I was finishing my last shift at America. If I could say one thing from everything, it is this: it’s hard work. But the people you work with make it all worth it.
If you read any blog post about a CP’s time at Disney, 99% of the people will say their job was not ideal. But what makes people keep coming back to work? The coworkers. It is obvious that no matter where you go, a job is a job, but as magical as it is for guests to interact with these Cast Members, it’s just as magical backstage for us when we get to work with these Cast Members!!
But you didn’t come here to read about the woes of being in Merchandise, (it’s honestly one of the better jobs!!)you came here to read about my last few months as a Cast Member. So without further ado:
I spent almost every waking moment trying to squeeze in everything that Disney has to offer its guests and Cast Members! This included (but is not limited to): free park admission, 40% off merchandise!, Cirque du Soliel, Blue Man Group (oops, that’s Universal), Harry Potter World (Universal also), DisneyQuest, Chef Mickeys, O’hana, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Dole Whip!, Disney’s Photopass, decorating christmas cookies, Canoeing with Katie and my family, and so much more that the memories can never be replaced! I spent the last 7 months making life long friends that I cannot even begin to explain.
Katie and Marissa (both of whom I worked with) made going to work and also going to the parks that much more enjoyable and I find myself still having inside jokes (that will most definitely never get old) through snapchat. There will never be anything to replace the time I have spent at Disney World with all of my amazing coworkers and lifelong friends. Here’s to seeing each other real soon!
